In Loving Memory of Terry J. Mock September 19, 1953 – April 5, 2025 Terry J. Mock, lovingly known as “Big Terry,” passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the age of 71, surrounded by his family. Born in Tampa, Florida, on September 19, 1953, Terry lived a life filled with love, strength, and resourcefulness. A master craftsman at heart, Terry built everything from houses to helicopters—not for work, but just because he could. His talents were endless, his stories unforgettable, and his presence larger than life. A proud Floridian and craftsman, Terry was known for his skills with wood and metal, hunting and even wrestling alligators. He was a man who could do anything—and often did. But more than that, he was the heart of his family: a teacher, protector, storyteller, and the guide for many generations with wisdom and love. Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Mock and all his children: Amy DeGraw, Kristie Bush (Travis), Tereasa Linzy, Terry Mock Jr., Jason Mock, Jessica Mock, and Joshua Johnson bringing together 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: David Denham (Sandy), James Pyle (Sherry), Stan Pyle (Stephanie), Sherry Baxley, Rita Harvell (Alan), Stephanie Smith (Mike); and two step-siblings he loved deeply, Dot Mulls (Brian) and Michelle Robinson(Greg) along with aunt who was more like a sister, Angela Maige (Buzzy). He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Standley. Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. As we face the days ahead without him, we know the strength of our family will come from one another. Growing up, our family gatherings were always loud, full of life, and filled with the kind of joy only he could inspire. Whether it was storytelling on the porch, tinkering in a workshop, or wrestling in the yard, those memories are stitched into the fabric of who we are. Now more than ever, we’ll lean into those moments and into each other—just as he would’ve wanted us to.
