In Loving Memory of Kenneth Thomas Barkhuff September 8, 1976 – February 12, 2026 Kenneth "Ken" Thomas Barkhuff, aged 49, passed away in the comfort of his home on February 12, 2026. A man of deep conviction, boundless energy, and a legendary "can-do" (and occasionally "can-break") attitude, Ken lived a life defined by service, adventure, and the Great Outdoors. A Life of Service and Skill Ken proudly served his country in the United States Army, a period of his life that forged his disciplined spirit and his desire to protect and provide. Following his service, he became known as a "jack-of-all-trades" in the truest sense. It was often said that Ken could fix—or break—just about anything; he approached every mechanical challenge with a curious mind and a pair of steady hands. His true passion, however, was in the sharing of knowledge. Ken was a gifted and patient teacher who found joy in mentoring others in the skills he loved most. Whether it was the precision of long-range shooting, the focus of archery, or the weightless freedom of scuba diving, Ken didn't just practice his hobbies—he instilled a love for them in everyone he taught. Family and Legacy Ken’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by: • His Daughters: Michelle Phelps (and husband) of Woodland Park, CO, and Katjana Barkhuff of Bogart, GA. • His Grandson: Theo Phelps (1 year old) of Woodland Park, CO, who brought him immense joy. • His Sister: Stephanie Lunn of Rialto, CA. • His Mother: Dorothy Snow of Rochester, WA. Final Journey to the Sea Arrangements are currently in process and will be announced at a later date. In a final tribute to his adventurous soul and his love for the ocean, a memorial service will be held in his favorite place: Key West, Florida. Following the service, family and friends will honor Ken’s memory through an underwater burial. His remains will be embedded within an artificial reef structure, allowing him to forever contribute to the marine life and the ocean he so dearly loved.
