JERRY KISER

Jerry Lee Kiser passed away peacefully under Hospice care in Tallahassee, FL on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born in Blakeley, WV on October 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Virgie Ann Huddleston and James Edgar Kiser. Jerry had 8 siblings: 4 brothers and 4 sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Kiser, his sister Sandy Littell, his sister Fran Martin and his closest friends Fred Burns and John Freeman. Jerry was married to Evelyn Lavonne Ellison of Camp Creek, WV on May 7,1966. They were married for 52 years and had 2 children, Sue Ellen Kiser born in Honolulu, HI on April 2,1969 and Jerry "Lee" Kiser II, born in Newport, RI on October 3, 1971. Jerry joined the United States Navy in 1962 where his 22+ years of active duty saw him progress to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. In the early part of his navy career, he served on the USS Liberty. After he was married, he and his young family traveled the United States and parts of the world in proud service of our country, being stationed in such places as Washington D.C., Virginia, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Iceland, Maryland, Italy, Florida and Alaska returning to retire in Jacksonville, FL in 1984. He was most proud of his service in the US Navy and would often be seen proudly wearing his Navy/Gold, US Navy Retired t-shirt and jeans. After retiring from the United States Navy, Jerry worked the overnight shift at the US Postal Service Bulk Mail Center in Jacksonville, FL. He was a hard worker, a valued team member and was genuinely respected by his coworkers at the BMC. After 20 years of service, he retired from the USPS in 2005. In retirement, Jerry enjoyed taking immaculate care of our family's home and landscaping the yard. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading books, watching golf and attempting to play it, watching football and cheering on the Noles! Oh, how our family lived by the ups and downs of those Noles football games! Conversations with his brother Meryl were often entertaining as they discussed the Noles/Mountaineers or Army/Navy games. So much fun and friendly banter in those back-and-forth conversations. Most of all, Jerry loved his family and looked forward to time spent together. With loving memories, Jerry is survived by his brothers Meryl Kiser (wife Vicki), Bobby Kiser (wife Ellie) and Joe Kiser, his sisters Rose Creamer and Sharon Kay Blessing, his former wife Evelyn (Babe), who he loved until his last day, his daughter Sue (Susie Q), his son "Lee Bub" (wife Molly) and his beautiful granddaughters Milla and Rinna. Jerry was a gentle, loving soul who was quick to lend a helping hand. We rejoice for the day we will see that helping hand extended to us as we join him with our Heavenly Father "In the Sweet By and By". An honor ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL on Friday October 16, 2026 at 2:00 pm. The family is being cared for and the arrangements are being made by Jackie Fulford and James Sircy of Young Fulford Funeral Home and Crematory, Tallahassee, Florida.
