Dwight Allen DeVore Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dwight Allen DeVore February 14, 1939 to January 17, 2024 Dwight was a simple man who never met a stranger. Conversation came easy to him and if you had the time he’d tell you his life story in a compilation of lifelong stories. Throughout the years the family grew to know each story almost by heart but still loved to hear him tell them. At the age of nineteen he started working with computers at the Alabama Farm Bureau; before the age of IT, at a time when computers were so big you could walk into one. He remained on that career path for fifty years in a variety of positions and finally retiring from the Florida Sheriff’s Association. Because of his father’s military career Dwight grew up living in several places and when asked where he was from he would recite a long list of states. Never staying in one place long enough to develop life-long friendships, he leaves behind one close friend who he loved dearly; a fellow Auburn fan. Dwight was an Auburn fan in their good times and bad. A jokester to the end Dwight is ending his time on earth in Auburn clothing to show his continued support even into eternity. His repertoire of jokes would end in moans and eyerolls but the family would still request they be told, especially if the audience was new. Dwight lived life unashamedly. As is the case with many, there were decisions regretted but could not be changed. He was always living-forward and the past was only relived in his story telling. He leaves behind his wife of forty years, Janise. Four children that he loved dearly and was fiercely proud of.
