Jane Ellen Gordon Smith

April 13, 1954 - December 11, 2019

Jane Ellen Gordon Smith, 65, of Tallahassee died suddenly on December 11, 2019 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Miss Jane spent and enjoyed a lengthy career in the accounting field working for the Fraternal Order of Police, Lemoyne Arts and other businesses. Miss Jane was married to her husband, Larry Smith, for over 23 years. The two of them loved to enjoy the outdoors together. They spent a great deal of time at the beach, boating and traveling around in their RV. One of their favorite things to do together in more recent years was going to the "Corner Pocket" to spend time with their friends. Of course Miss Jane spent most of her time there listening to the trials and tribulations of the ladies there. She gave out a lot of advice to help them all. There are a lot of folks out there that would tell you that Miss Jane is their "other mother." Most people describe her as a sweet woman that was so kind-hearted, generous, and willing to counsel those who shared their problems with her. Jane Smith is survived by her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Grady Smith, his children, her children, several grandchildren; her "Corner Pockets" family, her two dogs and her cat. Miss Jane was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her siblings. There will be a celebration of Jane Smith's life at a later date, after her family has had time to absorb this sudden and very big loss.
