Ira Hurtis Sewell

July 4, 1941 - January 26, 2022

Mr. Ira Hurtis Sewell, 80, of Tallahassee, passed away on January 26th 2022. Ira Sewell, 80, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on January 26, 2022 at the Big Bend Hospice House. He loved his Savior, his family and showed kindness to all he encountered. He was born in Lynn Haven, FL on July 4, 1941and was raised in Clarksville, FL. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, actively serving as a Deacon and was proud to be in the Lee Kell Sunday School Class. Ira was retired from FSU Housing as a Facilities Superintendent with 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Ivey Lambert Sewell, with whom he shared 35 years of cherished memories, including 2 mission trips to Guatemala. He is also survived by a son, Michael Sewell, grandchildren Zach & Alexa Sewell, daughter-in-law, Vanessa Sewell, sister Pauline Stokes, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Mary & John Dallis and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Ira will be Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 2351 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee with visitation at 9:00 AM and the service at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church he loved, Immanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 14149, Tallahassee, FL 32317 or Big Bend Hospice. The family is being assisted by James Sircy and Jackie Fulford of Young Fulford Funeral Home.
