Rebecca Dee Subrahmanyam

Rebecca “Becky” Dee Subrahmanyam Becky Subrahmanyam was born in Denison, Texas in 1947. She attended high school at Dallas Christian School and began her university education at Harding University, ultimately graduating with a B.S. degree in Biology from Florida State University. She passed away at the age of 77 on November 28, 2024, Thanksgiving Day, in Tallahassee, FL. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her primary mission in life was to homeschool her children and as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as possible. She worked diligently with many of them to make sure they received a sound education. All of those she homeschooled successfully finished high school, and some have gone on to earn varying college degrees. One of Becky’s most noteworthy endeavors was to train her children and grandchildren to love and care for the natural world. She dedicated years to projects with 4-H, such as studying Forest Ecology, Horticulture, and Marine Biology. Because of her dedication, teams of her grandchildren competed in 4-H contests, consistently winning best performance and outdoing several teams from all over Florida. Becky was an ardent Christian, fully dedicated to her values and beliefs. She loved everyone she met wholeheartedly without reservation. She was the best friend and mentor the grandchildren had, and they flourished under her nurture. She had several friends who loved her, trusted her, and sought her wisdom and guidance. She spent many hours in conversation and prayer with her loved ones until the end. Becky is survived by her husband of 56 years, C.B. Subrahmanyam; her son, Prem (Joy), daughter, Asha, and step-daughter, Girija (Sanjeev); by her 22 grandchildren, Joshua (Kristen), Rachel (Ryan), Ariel (Ludvik), Gabrielle (Rajat), Christine (Micaiah), Sarah (Joshua), Daniel (Jillian), Katlyn (Gene), Hannah (Sunny), Timothy, David (Haley), Carissa (Eugene), Isaac, Kenaniah, Emily (Jonathan), Kyrie, Zachariah, P.J., Naomi, and Anandi; by her step-grandsons, Gaurav and Kunaal; and by her 20 great grandchildren, Jordan, Victoria, Everly, Sanjula, Eleanor, Madhurima, Shanti, Isaiah, Elamira, Emmett, Rani, Jaiveer, Hope, Hopejyothi, Aryanna, Georgiana, Ujesh, Jojo, Juno, Emma-Lily, and Delta. She is preceded in death by her mother, Jean Truett Marshall, her father, James Wilford Riggs, and her step-father, Leamon Gannaway “LG” Keele Jr. The family is being assisted by James Sircy of Young Fulford Funeral Home and Crematory, Tallahassee, Florida. 850.610.4444
