GREGORY RUELLE ADAMS

Gregory Ruelle Adams, 74, of Tallahassee, FL, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2026 after complications related to a decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis. Gregory was born in Detroit, MI to George (Mack) and Carrie Lee Adams (Gilbert) on January 27, 1952 and was raised the youngest of eleven surviving children in a loving, warm family. He attended college at the University of Detroit and was a proud member of Omega Psi Fraternity, Inc. He married Joyce Delores Phillips in 1976, and together they had two daughters: Kari Roshelle Adams in 1978 and Erin Nicole Adams-Stewart in 1980. Although Gregory and Joyce Adams divorced after two decades of marriage, they continued to always share a deep, abiding love for the daughters they raised together. Gregory worked in orthotics and prosthetics over the course of his professional career creating custom artificial limbs for amputees, most notably with the University of Kansas Health System. Gregory took immense pride in how his hands and technical knowledge blended art and science to help give people a new lease on their independence and mobility. He continued to construct and innovate until challenges with MS would no longer allow him to work. Gregory was an active, engaging, loving, and supportive father. His love for his girls was clear in the quality time he spent with them outside in the world and in the quiet support he showed them at home. Gregory was a lover of the fine arts and shared his enthusiasm for jazz, photography and museums with his daughters. He loved to tell stories as a teaching tool and had an endless supply of catchy one-liners that were just as impactful as his longer stories. Gregory leaves behind his two daughters Kari (Isaac) and Erin (Leo); granddaughters Leah and Naomi (Erin and Leo); granddaughters Esmé and Nina (Kari and Isaac); brother (Stan); beloved nieces and nephews borne of his siblings, extended family and loved ones. Gregory’s humor, charm, love for the Lord, and spirit will be deeply missed. We are thankful that his body is at peace, and that beautiful memories of him remain. No services will be held at this time and the family requests no donations or flowers be sent.
