Gloria Jean Adams

Gloria Jean Adams, born Gloria Jean Walters on May 3,1940, in the Bronx, New York. Gloria peacefully went into the arms of Jesus on March 16, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren Noble Adams; her parents, Warren Cyril Walter and Virginia Noles; her brother, Warren Cyril Walters Jr.; her sister, Virginia Childs; brother in law, Bill Childs; her son, Donald Paul Adams; her grandson, James Earl Arrington; and her great- grandsons, Eli, Dennis, and Samuel Arrington. Gloria is survived by her three daughters, Lillian Anne Arrington (Larry), Monica Sue Adams, and Phyllis Elaine Berry; her cherished grandchildren, Billie Jo Boyd (Mike), Larry Noble Arrington (Becca), Katelyn Ann Walker, Cheyenne Grace Arrington, Nathan Suit, and Tiffany Berry; as well as numerous great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren, including Harley and Robert Pridemore, Cheyanne Arrington and Corrina Arrington, (Isaac), Andrew C. Arrington, Tyler and Jaden Ednfield, Jacob Sego, Zoey Sheward and Xander Sheward, Aurora and Lillybeth Arrington, Rayelyn Boyd, Peyton Eastman, Natalie Suit, Ellie Pridmore, and Warren Arrington. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was truly loved by many. Gloria married the love of her life, Warren Noble Adams, in 1953 in Jacksonville Florida, and together they built a family of four children. In 1968, after Warrens' passing, Gloria was left a young widow at just 28 years old with four children, little financial support, and no job. Through her strength, determination, and unwavering courage, she returned to school to learn data processing and built a successful career working for companies such as Gulf Life Insurance, The State Of Florida, Suntrust and Xerox. She faithfully provided for her family while also being both mother and father to her children. Following Warrens' passing, Gloria moved her children to Thomasville, Georgia for a short time before settling in Tallahassee, Florida. Where she made her home for the next 51 years. Her family remembers those early years as "the five of us against the world", a testament to the deep bond she nurtured. As the years went on, that circle of love grew to include sons-in-law, grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Gloria loved each of them deeply and gave freely- whether through financial help, a listening ear, or a warm hug. Gloria found joy in simple but meaningful moments. She loved long car rides, often driving along A1A late at night with her children until they fell asleep, so she too could finally rest. She created lasting memories teaching her children and grandchildren care games like poker, canasta, and blackjack- not only for fun, but to teach numbers, strategy, and critical thinking. She has a lifelong love of words and puzzles, enjoying crossword puzzles, word searches, and Scrabble. As a young girl, she loved skating, basketball, and biking- often combining all three at once. Even at the age of 75, she could still be found skating at a local rink in Tallahassee. A woman of deep faith, Gloria loved the Lord and dedicated much of her life to serving others. She volunteered with the churches she attended, including Call Street Church of Christ and Piedmont Park Alliance, where she taught Sunday school, helped with Vacation Bible School, and supported college and career ministries. In her later years, she attended Wakulla First Baptist Church of Wakulla Station in Wakulla, where she deeply enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she found there. She also volunteered with the Refuge House in Tallahassee, extending her compassion to those in need. Gloria will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who loved unconditionally, gave generously, and accepted everyone just as they are. Her legacy of Faith, strength, and love will live on in all who knew her.
