Bonnie Lou Fannin

Bonnie Louise Fannin was reunited with her loving husband, George Jr on April 23, 2023, she was 91. She was a beloved mother to her children and was lovingly known as "Ma Bunny" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born on April 11 , 1932 to Mike and Ossie Higgins in Ashland, Kentucky, she was raised by her step-mother, Edna Earl Higgins, after her mother's early death. After marrying George Fannin and living in both Kentucky and Ohio, the couple decided to move to Tallahassee in 1960 when George was transferred to work at the FCI. Although it was hard for them to leave their families, they knew they needed to make the sacrifice for their 3 young children. Bonnie loved children and opened the Sunnyland Nursery School, which was located a few doors down the street from her home where she loved and taught many young children for years. As retirement grew near, George and Bonnie opened Tire Plantation in Monticello. Bonnie opened the doors early and George joined her daily after his work at the FCI. It was there that Bonnie flourished and was known as the "Social Butterfly" on the Courthouse circle. Bonnie truly loved people and always had a friendly word and smile for everyone she met. Bonnie is survived by her daughter Linda Brooks (Bob, deceased), son David Fannin (Vicki), five grandchildren: Tim Brooks (Ely), Ryan Abcarian (Nikki) , Alan Abcarian, Kami Lasseter (Jared), Kati Fannin and six great grandchildren: Delaney, Grayson, Emerson and Gabrielle Abcarian, Leila Brooks and Landry Lasseter. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Diana Fannin McAda, her parents and one sister, Virginia McGlone and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00am at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee. A reception will follow for family and friends at the home of Linda Brooks - 2328 Haverhill Road, Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
