ALLAN EDWARD RAGSDALE

ALLAN EDWARD RAGSDALE, 75, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2021. Allan was born on October 16, 1945, in St. Petersburg, Florida to William "Bill" Edward Ragsdale (aka "Willie the Weatherman") and Ida Chamberlain Ragsdale. Allan moved with his family to Tallahassee, Florida, where he graduated from Leon High School. He then earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University. His family is proud that each of his children also graduated from Leon High School and they are a tried and true “Noles” family. Allan’s first job following college was with the Leon County School Board where he ultimately spent his entire career. At the time he retired, Allan was the Director of Media for Leon County Schools. He was always thinking out of the box and so creative. While Director of Media, he was immensely proud of his role in helping to inspire and provide the best instructional resources for students and faculties. Under his leadership, he was able to secure UHF licenses that were used to produce an income source for funding educational TV for the school system…oh the memories…Principal’s Breakfasts, Night of a 1000 Stars, and Kids Talk…so many good years. Allan was married 51 1/2 years to the love of his life, Ann Mostoller Ragsdale. He loved his children and his grandchildren. Allan's greatest gift was a life of laughter and fun that he had with his wife, children, and his grandchildren who he loved dearly. His smile showed his genuine happiness and would bring out the happiness in others. He kept that beautiful smile right up to the end. Allan loved the beautiful mountains of North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Some of his favorite times were spent on the beach and enjoying everything else the Florida Gulf Coast has to offer. Allan was a member of the Lions Club and Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee. Allan is survived by his loving wife Ann; his children, including son Robert Ragsdale (and his wife Cindy), and his daughters Elizabeth Hemmes (and her husband Ray) and Jennifer Yon (and her husband Michael); his three grandsons, Caden, Brandon and William; his brothers Charles Ragsdale and David Ragsdale, his sister Donna Tterlikkis (and husband Lambros); his sisters-in-law, Mary Mostoller and Jane Mostoller; and many nieces and nephews. Allan was preceded in death by his parents Bill Ragsdale and Ida Ragsdale, and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Ragsdale and Carol Ragsdale. Allan's family will carry on his legacy by continuing to find laughter and happiness in the wonderful memories they have shared with him. Furthermore, he would want his family and friends to find comfort in the wise words of Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Due to the COVID Pandemic, a celebration of Allan's life will be planned for a later date.
